CleanStart is a 501(c)3 nonprofit that exists to empower entrepreneurs with the knowledge, capital, and connections that are critical to creating a successful new business. We do this by Connecting, Promoting, and Educating startups and innovators in our 10-county region of focus.

From 2005 to the present,  we highlight key milestones and achievements that have shaped our mission to support and grow the cleantech industry.

Founded

We began our journey by creating a network of support and resources for cleantech pioneers.

2016

Relaunched

Major relaunch to better serve the evolving needs of the cleantech community and provide even greater value.

CEO Crash Course

CEO Crash Course

We host a Regional Accelerator, the CEO Crash Course! Our rigorous curriculum sets the stage for startup success, covering everything you need across 16 engaging sessions. With inspiring guest speakers and assignments, many graduates credit their success to this course. 

Cleantech Meetup

Cleantech Meetups

Our Monthly Cleantech Meetups attract an average of 60 attendees, while our Regular Virtual Web Meetings bring together 30 or more participants to discuss the progress of clean tech and opportunities in the region.

Business Skills

1-on-2 Business Development Sessions

We allow for founders to set up 1-on-2 appointments with our Chairman, Gary Simon, and Executive Director, Thomas Hall. In these sessions, they serve as a potent advisory with their combined decades of Entreprenurial experience.

Business Pitch Event

Business Pitch Events

We host regular Investor Spotlight events, offering a platform for investors to engage with companies’ pitches. We also support regional events such as the Big Bang at UC Davis and the College of Engineering and Computer Sciences Pitch Event by sponsoring prizes or serving on their judging panels.
