About the event:
During Global Entrepreneurship Week 2021, powered by Western Health Advantage, we are excited to bring you a conversation with Dr. Kivel, Professor within the Department of Recreation, Parks & Tourism Administration and Faculty Associate for the Community Engagement Center. This event is brought to you in partnership with the College of Health and Human Services as well as the Carlsen Center for Innovation & Entrepreneurship.

Dr. Kivel will share their experience in co-founding multiple nonprofit organizations and being a social justice advocate and innovator. In this talk, they will dive into how to start and grow a social venture while ensuring impact is made.

About Dr. Kivel:
Co-Founder, Community Against Sexual Harm (CASH), a peer-based, harm-reduction organization for sex workers in Sacramento, California.

Co-Founder and Director, Lavender Youth Recreation & Information Center (LYRIC), a social/recreational, organization for lesbian/gay/bisexual youth, ages 23 and under in San Francisco, California.

Director, Community Engagement Center, Division of Academic Affairs, California State University, Sacramento.
