10 Predictions for 2019

Here are our 10 fearless predictions for the coming year! Learn about the thought process behind these predictions in Gary Simon's latest blog post.  Have some insights or questions? Message us at info@cleanstart.org.

  1. Electric Vehicle registrations in Sacramento County will exceed 7K.
  2. Tesla will reach cash flow breakeven with annual production exceeding 300K vehicles.
  3. High Speed Rail funding will be dramatically reduced, freeing money for other carbon reduction projects.
  4. Prices for a ton of carbon emission reduction will rise, but not break $20.
  5. The installed cost of solar PV will rise modestly, slowing the trend of the last five years.
  6. A major investment in incubator space will be made in our region.
  7. A new clean tech company will move to our region.
  8. There will be an expanding number of startup storage companies.
  9. Two local clean tech companies will each receive over $25M in new investments.
  10. Three local clean tech companies will be sold or merged.
