Our featured company for September is local gas-to-synthetic liquids pioneer, Greyrock Energy. We celebrate local winners of CalSEED grant awards and give you a midyear update on CleanStart's progress. We invite you to join us for Green Drinks next Tuesday and for our next CleanStart Meetup on September 26. And lastly, we've rounded up the latest clean tech news in our region so you can stay up-to-date! All the details are below.

Brought to you by CleanStart and BlueTech Valley, the Central Valley Clean Tech Showcase will bring together entrepreneurs, industry leaders, policy makers, regulators, funders and investors to discuss the latest clean tech innovations, ideas, initiatives and challenges. Through exhibits, keynote talks, panel discussions and founder presentations, the showcase will highlight the successes of regional clean tech companies as well as explore future opportunities in technology advancement. The program will include an exhibit area with 25+ company displays. Admission is free. Greyrock Energy Takes 2 Important Steps

Momentum is building behind Greyrock Energy, our local gas-to-synthetic liquids pioneer. First, they closed on a follow-up equity investment in May from AP Ventures. The second bit of momentum was just announced last month when a customer obtained financing to build a plant in Canada to convert 5 million cubic feet per day of stranded natural gas into 500 barrels per day of clean synthetic diesel and naphtha. The plant, to be built by Rocky Mountain GTL in Carseland, Alberta, will incorporate several unique environmental features, such as self-sustained water supply, self-sufficient on electric power, and recycling of significant process CO2 in order to produce additional synthetic diesel. Read the full story on our blog
