We Are Humbled.
The huge outpouring of support in our August fundraising campaign was many things—unexpected, amazing, gratifying—and humbling. We are glad to have earned your trust and respect. Our goal was $20,000. We raised $20,950 including matching money, more than tripling the amount in our last campaign, and we set a new record for the number of people who donated. We are so grateful. Check out our 5-minute video on what we have accomplished, If you want to chip-in, Buy Us a Cup of Coffee. Every little bit helps. Read more on the Blog.

SMUD Selects New CEO from Inside
Paul Lau will be the new CEO at SMUD, taking office on October 3 after Arlen Orchard retires. Lau is the fourth CEO promoted to the role from inside SMUD and a 38-year veteran there. Jan Schori was promoted to the leadership role after the second of two CEOs appointed from outside SMUD left, then the role went to John DiStasio, followed by Orchard. Lau previously was one of seven who reported directly to the CEO. He was Chief Grid Strategy and Operations Officer, a role made prominent in all the restructuring of the utilities in the state. A long-time resident of Sacramento, he got his BA in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Sac State. Congratulations Paul! We look forward to working with you! SMUD as our longest-standing sponsor. Read SMUD press release.

We recently had the pleasure of interviewing V. John White, the 30-year veteran executive director of CEERT (Center for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Technology). CEERT has been in the lead on many of the regulatory and legislative changes that have pushed clean tech forward in the state, really a remarkable record. Among other things, we talked about new frontiers in incentives and rule changes in the clean tech markets which give insight into where startups may want to be focusing their efforts. Read our recap.
