From Our Chairman
The New Year is starting with a bang! First, let me thank all of you who contributed to our crowdfunding campaign to make it such a success. Counting all online and direct contributions, we raised over $10,000, an increase of 20% over the prior year. It is much appreciated.

Next, there are multiple programs being launched to help our cleantech community. While plans are still firming-up, here are a few heads-up on what is coming.

We will be creating a new series of Cleantech Meetups. So many times we have heard that folks don't know that much about our established clean tech companies and how they are doing. We need to make those companies more visible and to harvest what they have learned about starting up in this region. These meetups will let successful companies in our region tell their stories so that we all can learn about their technologies, what they are doing with them, and what experiences they have had from which we all can learn. Our first one is on January 25 and will focus on energy management.

If you are looking to raise money this year, Five Star Bank will be holding a pitchfest on March 29 and is inviting prominent investors with an interest in this region to attend. Cleantech companies can apply to present (details coming soon). This event is the latest in a series of actions taken to get more local investors acquainted with the best opportunities the region has to offer. Get ready to apply!

In terms of government funding, over $750 million is being made available statewide from the Air Resources Board and the Energy Commission for cleantech-oriented projects and technology development. We have put the details in a blog where you can learn more.

Finally, StartupSac is collaborating with New York-based youngStartup Ventures to get our local companies discounts to participate in the Venture Summit | West in Santa Clara March 13-14. Cleantech is listed as a focus area. Apply to present or register to attend. Go here to learn more.

Looks like a great year will unfold. Keep on pounding away!
