15th Annual Lesley K. McAllister Symposium on Climate and Energy Law

On November 3, 2023, the University of San Diego (USD) School of Law will host its Fifteenth Annual Lesley K. McAllister Symposium on Climate and Energy Law. This year’s theme is Building a Net Zero Future: Challenges and Opportunities. Earlier this year a Wall Street Journal headline stated that “Investors Plow Into Renewables, but Projects Aren’t Getting Built.” The article went on to report that “upply-chain snags, long waits to connect to the grid, and challenging regulatory and political environments across the country are contributing to the slowdown.” Similar challenges also affect efforts to increase electric vehicles, energy storage, and building electrification. At this year’s Symposium, practitioners, policymakers, scholars, and other experts will discuss how to accelerate the energy transition that will be needed to achieve net zero emissions by 2045, including siting and interconnection, permitting and financing complexities, and equity and environmental challenges.
