We've highlighted the winner of our award as well as the winner of SMUD's $10,000 award below. CleanStart continues to stay connected with our community through our To Do's webinars -- periodic 30-minute check-ins held over Zoom with a featured guest to share their insights on coping with the COVID-19 crisis or just moving your business forward. Upcoming To Dos are listed below. Our featured company is Simpl Global, an energy technology company with a focus on energy storage. We're grateful to have two students from Sacramento State join our team as associates. You can meet them below. And lastly, we've rounded up the latest clean tech news in our region so you can stay up-to-date! All the details are below.

Over the past decade, rooftop solar has made a big impact on energy generation. Now, in California, energy can be “free” during the day when solar energy is abundant. To take advantage of this savings and to extend it beyond daylight hours, innovations in storage solutions are advancing. Case in point, Simpl Global, led by Farid Dibachi, developed a battery around the needs of rooftop solar consumers. Rooftop solar owners are conscious of their energy cost, and Utilities switching to Time of Use becomes a pain point. With their solar systems generating power 3 to 5 hours a day when prices are cheap, they get less for the electricity they generate and pay more for electricity when they are not generating. In the past, the cost of batteries out weighted the potential energy savings. Simpl Global has created a battery that is easy to install and use and cost effective. Continue reading on our Blog.
