Perspectives: Tapping the Potential of California’s Offshore Wind

January 5, 2023 @ 9:00 am - 9:30 am

Perspectives: T-Omega
California wants 25,000 MW of offshore wind by 2045. T-Omega CEO Brita Osmundsvaag Formato shares how their floating platform can help.

Offshore wind is coming to California. The Governor has called for an aggressive goal and the CEC has targeted 25,000 MW by 2045. With California’s narrow Continental Shelf, current offshore wind needs innovation to compete on cost.

T-Omega Wind‘s floating wind platform may be a key to capturing offshore wind energy

Our guest, Brita Osmundsvaag Formato, is the Chief Executive Officer for T-Omega Wind and a seasoned energy executive from Norway accelerating the energy transition. She will be discussing how the search for more inexpensive and dependable green energy sources has increased over the years and T-Omega’s unique solution will play a role.

The T-Omega approach uses a stable, lightweight, four-leg structure that is allowed to float with slack (in order to turn into the wind). It looks like a Ferris wheel, with the wind turbine and the generator supported on each side rather than trying to balance everything on top of a tower.
